I count my stars to have met and interviewed 20+ industry titans! Each encounter was a whirlwind of pioneering innovation, mind-boggling knowledge, and resilient passion.
If I had to give you a preview of my work at d-shop, I’d say about 75% of it comprised interviews with technology wizards from around the world. I’m not kidding! Get this: I had the opportunity to interview Ian McHardy from SAP Waterloo who spent 18 months building (from scratch) the R2-D2 Droid from Star Wars. Pretty cool, right?
My creative process is dynamic for each interview but here’s a crux:
Asking a pre-approved list of questions (but I have a habit of straying away from those);
Making comprehensive notes during the interview (but I’m mostly listening because I retain better that way);
Post-interview reflection (the tone, direction, and vibe I want to take this in);
1st, 2nd, and 3rd drafts (plotting the written and visuals onto Sharepoint page);
Approve and publish!
Each interview is highly different from the other, and I adapt my approach accordingly, however, all interviews I’ve conducted at d-shop have shaped my mental outlook towards life in a significant way.
