Corporate Newsletters…can be fun!

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. You may want to turn a hobby into something more. Or you may have a creative project to share with the world.

The way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

With an all-new design (a risky experiment), I released my last quarterly Newsletter working for d-shop at SAP Labs Vancouver. SAP’s Board members visited the office and I was honoured to have met them in person.

To have you in on a little secret: They were real sports as they visited our digital playland!

This newsletter was especially different due to its design elements:

  • Exclusive stories take precedence right at the top (we were cheeky with the blue-coloured font, inculcating d-shop’s branding).

  • We realised reading is not the norm, so we had the board members record short videos for our d-shop community during their visit and featured them as clickable links.

  • Note that circular frames are also an attempt at stimulating your eyes from the overused rectangular or square frames.

  • As you’ll see below, we got rid of texts completely, persuading readers to pick and choose an article for themselves based on their favourite keywords (in orange).

  • d-shop boasts a good 30+ locations across the globe so it was a conscious decision to divide the stories into Local Stories, Global Stories, and Maker’s Corner (my favourite!).

  • There were always events being held at various d-shops so we made it a point to feature events separately to boost numbers for registration.

  • As my time at the company met its gradual end, d-shop was buzzing with the tunes of Generative AI, so much so, that we decided to create a separate channel for it!

  • And lastly, finishing strong with making sure Subscribe, Join, and Email are aligned perfectly with each other (for aesthetic purposes, of course).
